Fees for Psychotherapy and Neuropsychological Evaluations
While my charges may be reimbursable to some degree, I do not participate directly with any insurance company. I am an out-of-network provider. I do not accept insurance. I accept cash, checks, and all major credit cards. When requested, I will provide you with documents to seek insurance reimbursement.
Finding the right psychologist protects your investment of time, energy, and money in getting the help you need. Not every psychologist (or mental health clinician in general) has taken the time to learn, train, and study in my specialties, so my services may cost more than expected.

I am a Lotus Fund Provider for Asian-identifying clients who seek an Asian therapist.
All public school districts offer free evaluations for learning disabilities and autism for qualified students.
Many primary care providers, such as pediatricians, diagnose ADHD and take insurance.
Some developmental-behavioral pediatricians, psychiatrists, and neurologists diagnose autism and take insurance. You can contact your child’s insurance provider to find a referral.
6 Reasons Why I Don’t Take Insurance
Insurance typically authorizes testing for specific reason, such as a brain injury. They may not cover testing for autism and ADHD. They rarely approve testing for academic difficulties.
Most healthcare plans today (insurance, PPO, HMO, etc.) offer little coverage and/or reimbursement for mental health services. In fact, a report found that patients are 10.6 times more likely to go out of network to find psychological care than for specialty medical care.
Despite the passing of the Mental Health Parity and Addiction Equity Act passed in 2008, that report found that poor reimbursement for mental health providers was a major cause of inadequate mental health networks.
Most HMOs and PPOs require “preauthorization” before you can receive services. You must call the company and justify why you are seeking therapeutic services for reimbursement.
The insurance representative, who may or may not be a mental health professional, will decide whether services will be allowed. You are often restricted to seeing the providers on the insurance company’s list if authorization is given.
Reimbursement is reduced if you choose someone not on the contracted list; consequently, your choice of providers is often significantly restricted.
Insurance companies may authorize therapy for several sessions. When these sessions are finished, your therapist must justify the need for continued services. Sometimes, additional sessions are not authorized, leading to an end of the therapeutic relationship even if therapeutic goals are not entirely met.
Your insurance company may require additional clinical information that is confidential to approve or justify a continuation of services. Confidentiality cannot be guaranteed when insurance companies require information to approve continued services. Personal treatment information might be added to national medical information data banks.
Your insurance company may decline services even if the therapist explains the need for ongoing assistance. Your insurance company dictates if treatment will or will not be covered.
